Mechanical report

Water conservation

Various roof areas throughout the building have been designed with water collection drains for rain and snowfall. This water will be recycled and used as potable plumbing water.

CHP Plant Option

An option has been provided to utilize a combined heat and power plant to tie into the building electrical and thermal systems. This plant will improve energy efficiency in building systems

ERV Wall Panels

Energy Recovery Ventilation Wall Panels have been recommended to reduce ventilation load in spaces with façade walls. These panels exchange either heating or cooling between conditioned spaces and outdoor air which reduces overall energy load.

Enclosure

The enclosure was designed as a highly efficient system. By providing a new R-30 wall and an airtight assembly, the enclosure reduces the building mechanical energy loads for heating and cooling by 40%.

Natural Ventilation

Building orientation and layout created an opportunity to naturally ventilate and cool large volume spaces. Integrating a central solar chimney and operable louvers into the basketball court façade wall provided an opportunity for seasonal natural ventilation.

Occupant wellness

Overall occupant wellness was a main goal of the mechanical building design. The thermal and acoustical considerations in wellness spaces were implemented to create healthy environments.
