Lighting/Electrical Report
Daylighting
Coalescence wanted to provide high quality spaces for health and wellness. Our design allowed for 42.6% of all regularly occupied spaces such as:
● the wellness hub, ● basketball courts, ● open exercise room, ● pool
to receive 300 lux for greater than 50% of occupied building hours while only allowing 1.73% of direct annual sunlight exposure of greater than 1000 lux for 250 hours per year.
Controls
ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2013 was used for controls compliance. Manual controls will allow the user more flexibility by using “scenes” to better adjust visual comfort in spaces and reduce energy while the buildings automatic controls such as occupancy and vacancy sensors will shut off contributing to energy savings and fixture life.
Lighting Design
Emphasis on health, wellness, strength, movement, and relaxation were key lighting design drivers for accenting the architecture of War Memorial Hall as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle. All fixtures are efficient LED fixtures with dimming capabilities for maximum control and energy reduction.
Main Electrical Systems
Main electrical systems include normal, emergency, and legally-required power. The normal power system runs from the 13.8 kV campus utility line, and the emergency and legally-required power system runs from a 300kW diesel generator.
Specialty Electrical Systems
Specialty electrical systems were implemented to keep War Memorial Hall safe and secure through security, fire alarm, telecommunications. In light of past events, we prioritized an effective security system to keep students protected. In addition to that, some programming requires a paid membership to access, so it is crucial to keep those areas private.
